After studies with renowned teachers and pedagogues such as Hedwig Maey, Sandor Végh, Heribert Lauer and Pinkas Zukerman on the violin and Ottavio Corti, Christoph Schiller, Fjodor Drushinin and Kim Kashkashian on the viola, he developed himself an intense pedagogical activity for well over 30 years: In 1991 he became professor for viola at the Musikhochschule Bern (succeeding Max Rostal) as one of the youngest professor of this important institution ever. Since 2011 he is teaching violin, viola and chamber music at the Kalaidos University in Switzerland, focussing on bachelor and master students as well as on post graduate students with the goal for competitions and orchestral auditions. 

As regular jury-member of international competitions such as the CIEM in Geneva, the Premio Vittorio Guy in Florence and in Music Academies all over Switzerland as well as chairman of highly acclaimed concert organisations and festivals, he became one of the most experienced and sought-after Swiss personalities in the field of helping and supporting young artists on their way to a successful professional career.  

Today, he is giving masterclasses in many renowned institution such as the Conservatorio di Musica “Arrigo Boito” di Parma, the Schaffhauser Meisterkurse, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music or the National Academy of Music in Melbourne. Otherwise, he is teaching in his own teaching studio in Winterthur Switzerland where he welcomes everyone from young to old age who is willing to learn and feel better technically on his instrument as well as musically with the music he or she wishes to perform.
